As state demographics shift and older Californians continue to make up a larger share of the population, the need for services that help older adults and people with disabilities live independently in their own communities is more important than ever.
We put together a series of fact sheets to highlight the array of Medi-Cal programs designed to achieve this goal: home and community-based services (HCBS).
HCBS can include a wide variety of services from adult day care to home health aides to assistive technology. For older adults and caregivers, however, understanding what services are available and how to access them can be difficult, especially since they often have different access points, administering agencies, and unique assessment processes. Many also have waitlists.
